Proclaiming Christ Afresh

                    BLS Catholic Women's League

Over a hundred years on from when one enterprising lady named Margaret Fletcher founded the Catholic Womens League, a very lively Section of that League is an essential and spirited part of our Parish of St. Mary of the Angels in Bolton-le-Sands.
Our own Section came into being over 30 years ago when Fr. Diskin first arrived as our Parish Priest. Recently, we have welcomed Fr.John Gibson, and we have been a consistant and steady support for him as he took on the responsibility of three parishes.
As women always do, we have continued to be there when jobs in the parish need doing - flowers, choir, cleaning, catering etc, and, of course, being there for the sick, frail and elderly of our community, when needed.
We also meet regularly every first Tuesday of the month ( apart from August) at 7.15 pm in the Church Hall and do all sorts of things from raising money, listening to speakers, watching demonstrations, going on trips and visits, holding dances and quizzes, and, of course, sharing our faith and friendship with each other.
Some of us are founder members, some have only recently joined, and we range in age from 30s to 80s! We share a very special bond and we welcome with open arms anyone who would like to come along and share that with us. Our current programme is on the notice board at the back of church together with phone contact numbers, or my e mail as Social Secretary is mary.pearson@westcairn.net. If you'd rather, why not just come along - we'd be delighted to see you!

We would like to thank all those who supported our various Functions throughout the year. We have donated over £1,000 to Help for Heroes as well as supporting 2 local charities.
